Acrylic Meditations: “Curiosity”

CuriosityCuriosity is the name of a large, acrylic painting currently installed at Santa Cruz Fireplace and Hot Tub on Ocean Street.
It acts as a reminder to employ a kind and loving attitude when entering the realms of inner reflection.

It’s purpose is a reminder of the principles reflected upon in a mediation.
At the top of the painting is an inscription that reads, “This door is Curiosity. It’s one of the options in choice. If you choose to open this door and see what happens, it’s best to go in with a loving and compassionate heart.” And, to the left, next to the three circles are also inscriptions. They read, “Aware,” “Accept”, “Choice.” Then, under the large rectangle reads, “Compassion, Empathy, Kindness, Do Nothing, Gratitude”. Then, the large Chinese symbol “Ai” at the bottom represents Love.

Curiosity can be a portal to inner wisdom. How these principles apply is that when going into a delicate realm of inner reflection, one has options. For some of us, the realm has the possibility of going negative or dark. It was suggested by a teacher of mine, to enter the door with a “kind and loving heart.”

This painting is 24″x 52″ and 3″ deep. The surface is sign-grade plywood and framed in Fir and painted with acrylics.
