Progress: Larimar Inspiration

The drawing board for pendant ideas.

This week I began working on a new custom pendant using a Larimar stone.

Larimar is said to promote tranquillity and a strong sense of inner peace and serenity. It is useful in time of pressure and stressful change as its cooling and calming energy is said to help soothe frazzled nerves and reduce stress.

I am creating this pendant for a friend of mine who was drawn to the stone when she visited me in Santa Cruz.

The patterns on the stone resemble sunlight dancing on clear blue water. This serene, tropical energy goes well with my friend’s personality.

I got started on the pendant by tracing it on a piece of paper a few times and using that  tracing to draw some potential shapes I can make with the wire around the pendant.

Some of my materials, tools, and sketching ideas for the larimar pendant.

As you can see in the picture, I traced a shape with a sharper, triangular edge and one with more rounded edges.

I decided to go with more rounded edges to create a more feminine design to match the light energy of the stone and my friend who will be wearing the pendant.

I will be working with solid silver wire on this piece, using a variety of gauges, or thickness.

Stay posted to see this pendant develop!
