My new piece will feature these two stones in a unique arrangement.
This week I started working on a new piece!
I’m trying something that I’ve never done before; layering one stone on top of the other.
The rutilated quartz will be layered on top of the ammonite.
The top stone, called rutilated quartz is for the most part very clear. It acts almost like a magnifying glass for whatever it is on top of.
Rutilated quartz has thin lines on the inside of the stone that happens naturally.
The quartz piece will go on top of an ammonite, which is basically a fossilized snail shell. My goal is to make the two stones look like they are naturally attached.
I will use minimal wrapping on the ammonite to make it look as if it is floating behind the quartz.
I am excited to see these two beautiful stones literally come together!
