A mixed media piece using stones and a ceramic bead.
This is a piece that I created for a friend of mine. I had a lot of fun working with all of the seperate elements. To get started on the creation process, I sat down with the friend who commissioned the piece and talked with her about what colors and elements she was wanting to incorporate. As she was talking with me, I pulled different stones and beads from my stash of supplies until we both felt like we had a nice collection in front of us.
It is interesting working with wrapping mixed media elements. When I’m working with all stones, they tend to compliment each other fairly naturally. Probably because they’re all made of very similar stuff. When I bring a ceramic piece into the mix, I want to make sure it is well incorporated in with the other stones. In this piece, the ceramic goddess bead ended up being the feature of the piece, and the stones were used to support it on the side. I like the final product of this piece quite a lot!
