Bringing multiple stones together in a way that is cohesive and not busy takes awareness and sensitivity. This is an earlier piece that I made. The wire work is very simple but the combination of stones makes the piece have more impact.

The first stone that I started with was the cluster of smokey quartz. I knew that I wanted to have that stone be the feature of the piece. When you look at the second photo of the pendant, you can see black stone on the back of the smokey quartz. That is actually black tourmaline that formed on the smokey quartz. The bottom stone which I wrapped onto the piece is also black tourmaline. I think that the tourmaline inclusion on the smokey quartz really helped tie in the bottom piece of black tourmaline.

In this case, the stone itself helped my decide what other stone would go well with it. By listening to what the canvas, or the stone, wanted I was able to make a cohesive piece of art.
