Opal strikes a pose under the full moon.

Opal del Sol has a passion for expressive movement.

She first got involved in the Santa Cruz dance community by attending weekly ecstatic dances. Later she started attending the weekly West Cliff Lighthouse fire gatherings and was inspired to start learning fire staff.

After she began doing local solo performances, Opal joined Goldtown Burlesque. Gold Town was the starting point for Opal to develop her character. Her goal was and still is to merge her expressive dance style with technical fire spinning.

Opal del Sol wants to bring connection and vulnerability into her fire dance, to reach the audience in a stronger way.

Fire dancing has been an amazing avenue for me to stretch my boundaries and learn to believe in myself. If there’s any way I can give a piece of that to the audience during a performance, I want to.
