Progress Complete: Crown

wire wrapped crown

A full shot of the finished crown, fit for a queen.

This week I bring my crown project to a close. However, as french poet Paul Valery once said, “A poem is never finished, only abandoned.” I often feel that way about my wire art. I can always see more room for development, more ways to expand the design. As per usual, I have more inspiration than I have time for so for now I will call this project complete.

This week I focused on adding detail work to make the crown more eye catching. I worked with only bright copper wire this week, to add contrast and draw light into the piece.

I did some of the detail work with a thinner gauge wire and added some thick wire to the bottom to round out the shape of the crown.

This crown is the first of its kind!

This project was an adventure for me. Now I have a prototype crown to work from when I want to create more crowns in the future.

This project has helped to teach me what techniques were helpful and what was challenging with this type of piece. Thanks for following along!
