His photographic works manage to capture intimate yet casual moments within his close-knit groups of friends and with his long-time girlfriend, Nikki. Clugston’s work is truly candid, having seen his process firsthand. His tame and accepting attitude makes for easy wallflowering. This personal characteristic of the artist is properly and strategically reflected in his photos, demonstrating human joy and relaxation at its finest, served with a humble and comfortable undertone.

Though residing in Santa Cruz, Jonny Clugston often travels throughout the Bay Area for inspiration. He judiciously admits that his photos are often taken on a whim: “Basically, all the photos I take are from random accounts throughout my daily life,” he told me, “so I try to make sure that they’re as authentic and personal as possible.” He is also a creator of short films, graphic design, web design, and is largely involved with the local independent music scene.
