This week I’m continuing little by little to work on this fire agate pendant. I’m maintaining the symmetrical effect, and trying to obscure as little of the stone as possible. It was more noticeable it the last progress shot, but the gold piece of quartz is actually a bead. In my first progress photo, it appeared to be floating above the fire agate. I prefer to at least create the illusion that all the stones are only being held in place by external wires. So part of what I did this week was to create the effect of the gold quartz being held in place by the wire segments going over the crystal.
Another technique that you can observe here, is keeping all of the wires separate an intact until I know I’m done working with them. All of the wire sticking out from the sides are potential starting points for a new segment of detail work. They can also provide a juncture to start working another stone in. This week I’m going to work in the other two smaller stones. Once they’ve been included, I cans start doing detail work around the piece as a whole.
